The Carolina Classic Fair takes place at the fairgrounds on University Parkway in Winston-Salem. It has a Midway full of rides, plus animals, exhibits and displays. For a guest who tires easily, uses a wheelchair or pushes a stroller, a little planning makes the day easier.

This guide pulls together what the fair publishes about accessibility, parking and its rules, plus how scooter, wheelchair and stroller rental worked with us at the 2026 fair. Fair details below come from the fair's own pages as they read on November 1, 2026. Check them again before your next visit.

We are an equipment rental company, not a medical provider. Nothing here is medical advice. If you are unsure what you need, ask your doctor or therapist.

When the fair runs

The 2026 Carolina Classic Fair ran October 2 to 11. The fair's General Info page listed fair hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. Ticket gates closed at 9 p.m.

Dates for the next fair are not posted yet. Watch the Carolina Classic Fair website and our Carolina Classic Fair page for updates.

Two timing notes for a lower-energy day:

  • Ticket gates close at 9 p.m., so plan to arrive well before then.
  • Re-entry is the same day only, with a valid hand stamp. A rest in the car is possible, but keep your stamp.

What the fair says about accessibility

The fair's Accessibility page says everyone is welcome. In its words, it is "dedicated to providing an inclusive experience" and can accommodate most mobility needs.

The page lists:

  • Accessible parking.
  • Accessible restrooms.
  • Support services, with a team to help with specific requests.
  • Mobility Concepts Rentals on site during the fair to supply most mobility aids.

The page does not spell out every detail. If you need something specific, call the fair office at 336-727-2236 before you go. That is the best way to get a current answer.

Parking and getting to the gate

The fairgrounds GPS address is 2825 University Parkway, Winston-Salem. The fair's parking page for 2026 described a few options:

  • Advance parking in the VIP Leaf Lot. Sold ahead of time through Ticketmaster, first come, first served. The fair describes it as a straight walk into the Midway. The lot had to be empty by 8 p.m. daily for fireworks.
  • Day-of general parking. At the LJVM Coliseum and Allegacy Financial Stadium lots, owned and operated by Wake Forest University.
  • Football Saturday. On Saturday, October 3, a Wake Forest home game shared the area. The fair asked guests to use free shuttle lots from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day, and the VIP Leaf Lot was not available. The free shuttles ran through 11 p.m.

The parking page does not say where accessible spaces are or where a driver can drop off a passenger. The Accessibility page says accessible parking is available. Call the fair office to ask where to go before you leave home.

If you plan to rent from us, you still need to get from your car to our rental spot. Plan for that walk.

Security, bags and service animals

All guests must go through the fair's security screening. The fair lists:

  • A clear bag policy, with bags subject to inspection.
  • Walk-through magnetometer screening.
  • A list of prohibited items, including coolers, oversized bags, weapons and drones.

If you are not sure how screening works with your own wheelchair or another device, ask the fair office ahead of time.

The fair's Guest Safety page says service animals are permitted as defined by ADA guidelines. Pets are not allowed unless they are part of an approved exhibit.

Scooters and wheelchairs from us

We rented equipment at the 2026 fair, staffed by our crew on site. Here is how it worked in 2026:

  • First come, first served. There was no advance booking. Guests were helped in the order they arrived, based on what was free.
  • Call the day before if you need it to attend. If physical limitations mean you need a scooter or wheelchair to come at all, call between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. the day before you plan to come. It helps the team know to expect you.
  • Electric scooters. Maximum passenger weight is 400 lbs.
  • Push wheelchairs. Multiple sizes, with leg lifts as needed.

Our staff show you the controls before you go. You can sit on a scooter first to make sure it fits.

What to bring in 2026:

  • Valid photo ID showing your current address.
  • A valid driver's license, a cash security deposit or a card deposit. We keep it until the equipment comes back. We do not take car keys.
  • Payment for the rental, made when you pick up the equipment.

Not sure which to choose? Read scooter or wheelchair, or see our mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

Strollers for little ones

A fair day is long for small legs too. In 2026 we rented single and double strollers at the fair, first come, first served, the same as scooters.

A few stroller tips:

  • Pack light. The fair's clear bag policy still applies to what you carry.
  • Keep valuables on you, not in the stroller basket.
  • Ask our staff how to use the stroller you rent.

See our stroller rentals for the types we carry.

Riding safely in a crowd

Our safety rules keep everyone moving:

  • Only the person named on the rental may ride, one at a time. Booking for a parent? Put their name on the rental.
  • Scooter baskets are for lightweight items.
  • Keep carry-ons and valuables secured to yourself.
  • Our staff do not lift or transfer guests.

Go slowly near ride lines and food stands. Stop and let a crowd clear before you move through it.
